Experience Science - Exhibition

The Exhibition

The digital transformation is changing societies in many ways. It makes everyday life easier through smart technologies, improves access to information, and promotes global networking. At the same time, it harbors dangers in terms of security and manipulation. Research areas like Artificial Intelligence not only accelerate processes in science, but also societal developments.

Science plays a key role in understanding and positively shaping profound change. The foundation of the digital era is data. It serves as a universal language. Science offers tools to make data usable. In doing so, transparency, security, and the comprehensibility of the processes are crucial.

The CIDS – Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences at TU Dresden is dedicated to research on these topics. The exhibition offers insights by conveying complex relationships in an understandable way. It allows for a change of perspective and invites you to experience research interactively.

The Exhibits

Our exhibits make digitalization tangible: with physical and interactive approaches that work on different levels of understanding—from playfully low-threshold to more complex forms of representation for in-depth exploration.

Locations

After its premiere in the Andreas-Pfitzmann-Bau, parts of //DataSpaces are currently on display in the SLUB Makerspace. Other modules are in mobile use and have been shown at conferences such as Building Bridges (Hellerau) and Performing Transformation (TU Dresden).

Mediation Program

In addition to the free exploration of the exhibits, our focus is on active mediation. In workshops and events, we invite young and old, visitors and scientists alike, to playfully immerse themselves in the world of digitalization, try out new things, and network in a relaxed atmosphere.

Accessibility

From the very beginning of the conception, we have paid attention to accessibility for as many people as possible. During the exhibition, we identified further needs that we are currently addressing in an inclusion project—to make exhibits and texts even more accessible in the future.
