When bacteria move collectively in water it is referred to as active liquid. The movement causes a special flow behavior. This enables bacteria to move around better. Researchers simulate fluids of this type in order to understand how fluid movement is dependent on bacterial activity. Scientists also investigate how the composition of bacteria in the liquid effects the results.
