How do cells get into shape?

Biological processes and patterns are complex and require difficult mathematical equations, based on physical laws. The theory of active matter helps to describe the mechanics within cells. Researchers have now been able to simulate these processes. These results bring us closer to solving how cells and tissues maintain their shape and to designing artificial biological machines.
