Hyperuniformity

Order in the disorder

Hyperuniform systems are characterized by the smallest irregularities on large scales. This property is known for ordered, so-called crystalline systems. However, it is a „new“ state of matter in disordered, so-called liquid systems. This state lies between ordered and disordered systems. It occurs in a wide variety of systems and often leads to enhanced properties.
